A bit of an update....

Tue Nov 17, 2009, 8:12 AM
  • Mood: Neutral
  • Listening to: Ringing in my ear
  • Reading: A lot...
  • Watching: My screen
  • Playing: My guitar
Apparently I must have been somewhat optimistic on my last journal, but can you blame a guy who was hardly able to put something in a journal? I hope not.

In my last journal I actually wrote about it taking one or two months... it's been over two months now and yeah, I'm back home again today, but that's all there is to be happy about...

How about a list on the situation I fell in, literally :|
A Fractured skull
A (small) fracture in one of my vertebrea
A severe cerebral contusion
Blood ran into my left ear and settled on both sides of my eardrum
Shortening of the hamstring muscles (possibly due to the fall possibly due to the hospitalisation)

The fracture in the one vertebra is more of a nuisance right now than anything else really, but I haven't been doing much yet. It's probably small, but I'm still waiting on the results of a couple of x-ray pictures. My ear is worse than my back. My hearing on the left side is at perhaps 70 or 80% of what it used to be and there is a constant 'ringing' in my left ear which is impossible to stop, so putting my finger in my ear won't help... Though what do you think, I still keep trying ;P

The shortening of the hamstrings is something I seem to be really good at, too bad it's not something you put on your CV (or résumé;). I've had difficulty walking for quite some time, though now that's no longer an issue..
The biggest problems lie with the cerebral contusion. It feels like I have a small container of concentration per day, though it runs out way too fast. When I'm in a room with several people at the same time, I'll get a headache sooner or later. It's like that with a lot of things.
Another example: I used to be able to read even with the radio on, but I seems to be nigh impossible to me now (though it's improving bit by bit).
I've also been told that I'm very sluggish compared to before my accident and that too is something that's normal to this kind of injury...
Then there's also been the headache. I've been a lot better in that department in the past weeks, though I'll get it when I go too far with something... much like the sluggishness: don't expect a speedy answer to a more difficult question from me any time soon when I've just been (too) busy..

Like that hasn't been enough I've also lost most of my sense of smell and my sense of taste... ..I might actually be able to drink coffee for once without hating the taste... ;p

So then try working; lots of people running around with one cart or another, radio on all the time, cars and trucks supplying and picking up goods and then you have to actually do something :|
Last week I've been able to walk around a bit for an hour before I had enough for one week...
Today I was able to hang on for an hour and a half and I'll see what I'll manage tomorrow, or whether I'll manage at all O_O On the bright side though, I've actually done something this time. Not fast, but I don't really care ;)

So... that's about it... I hope... By now my ear is ringing like a runaway train and head hurts (only mildly? :o) If anyone was curious in any way, I hope that'll do for now ;)
